Made for kitesurfers. By a kitesurfer.
Less time checking forecasts. More time on the water.
Kitecast is a free kitesurfing forecast platform designed to make one of the most familiar decisions in kitesurfing a whole lot easier: When should I go, where should I ride, and what gear should I bring?
Instead of jumping between weather apps, comparing wind models, and trying to figure out whether the conditions will actually work for your setup, Kitecast brings everything together in one place.
And because no two riders are the same, your forecast shouldn't be either.
Not just another wind forecast
A forecast showing 20 knots doesn't tell the whole story.
Whether it's a great session depends on your weight, kite sizes, board, riding preferences, wind direction, gusts, and the spot itself.
Kitecast takes those details into account to help you:
- Find your next session. Discover which upcoming days and hours offer the best conditions for you.
- Choose the right spot. Compare locations based on forecasted conditions and spot-specific wind direction.
- Know what to pack. Get kite and board recommendations based on your own gear and weight.
- See the bigger picture. Compare multiple weather models, wind forecasts, gusts, rain, and live observations where available.
- Spend less time planning. Get a clearer answer to the question every kitesurfer asks: Is it worth going?
No unnecessary complexity. Just the information you need to make the most of the wind.
The story behind Kitecast
Kitecast started as a personal project, born from spending way too much time checking forecasts before every session.
As a kitesurfer who also happens to be a computer engineer, I wanted a tool that went beyond displaying wind speed and direction. Something that could actually help me decide where to go, when to leave, and which kite to throw in the car.
So I started building it.
What began as a tool for my own sessions has gradually grown into a platform I hope other kitesurfers will find just as useful.
Kitecast is independently built, shaped by real sessions, and continuously improved with one simple goal: make planning a kite session as enjoyable and effortless as possible.
Free to use. Built to improve.
Kitecast is currently in public beta, with spot coverage across the Netherlands and Türkiye.
It's completely free to use, with no account required to get started.
The platform is still evolving. Forecasts are being refined, features are being improved, and there's plenty more I'd like to build.
Whether you're chasing your next big-air session, looking for a relaxed freeride, or simply trying to squeeze in some water time after work, Kitecast is here to help you make the most of the conditions.
And if you have an idea, spot suggestion, or something that could work better, I'd genuinely love to hear it.
After all, the best tools are built with the people who use them.
See you on the water.
Find your next session with Kitecast.
A quick note on safety
Kitecast provides forecast-based guidance, not guarantees. Weather conditions can change rapidly, and model predictions don't always reflect local conditions. Always check the conditions at your spot, follow local rules, and make your own assessment before heading out.
Data & acknowledgements
Kitecast brings together information from established weather models and external data providers, including Open-Meteo, national weather services, Buienradar, and OpenStreetMap-based mapping. Live cameras, spot imagery, and additional integrations are credited to their respective providers and owners.
